Data stored by Turtle Academy when creating an account How and when is the data collected? How this data is used
Display Name ( Optional e.g., “Turtle or “Mona Logo”) and username (eg "turtle57") Required by User (or their Teacher) on account creation Display name is used to provide Students a welcoming login and to identify the Student.

Usernames are generated on registration and can be used to sign into an account. Students have the option to set a Display for the profile public display.
Email address Email address is required on account creation if Student signs up directly. Email address is not required if account is created by teacher. A Student's email address is only used for the purposes of login.
Parent or guardian email address Can be optionally provided by parent to create a login for their child at home. A Student may want to create a personal login to access their account independently of their Teacher or school, especially if the Teacher decides to delete the classroom section that the Student belonged to or the Student signs in with a school-sponsored account like Google, Microsoft, Clever, or PowerSchool.

If the Student doesn’t have a personal email address and wants to create a personal login, we require the parent to create a teacher account and add the student under his students. The Student will then be able to sign in at home with a username and password.

This data, in de-identified form, also helps Turtle Academy improve lesson effectiveness. For example, if a level is too hard, Turtle Academy may take action (like providing better hints) to improve the learning process.
Student projects. Collected as Students creating a new program . The code and underlying assets for these apps are stored by Turtle Academy, so that Students can retrieve their projects each time they log in.
When Students work in the context of a classroom, their Teacher also has access to view the projects created by any Students in the classroom.
Student projects and code creations each have a custom URL that Students can use to share with others.
Written comments and ranks of other programs Collected as Students chose to rank or comment programs. Students have the ability to rank other programs they like ( between 1-5 starts).
Students might have the ability to comment other progrmas as well. this data will be use to show the coolest progrmas when looking into others projects.
